Amy Beatty
Ballet Instructor
Ms. Beatty received her training from Interlochen National Music Camp, the National Academy of Dance, Briansky Saratoga Ballet Center, the Royal Academy of Dance, Pennsylvania Ballet, and Indiana University School of Music. She has been coached in principal and solo roles by Lupe Serrano of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onnasis School at American Ballet Theater, and Dame Alicia Markova of the Royal Ballet. Ms. Beatty attended Indiana University with a focus on pedagogy under Marina Svetlova and Jurgen Pagels.
After moving to Houston, Ms. Beatty has taught for numerous schools, including the Studio of Dance, and Ballet Center Houston. She has taught Master classes for the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, St. Johns School, and Twin City Ballet. She has set classical repertoire including Les Sylphides, Coppelia, and the Don Quixote Pas De Deux. Her original choreography includes the music of Correlli, Mendelssohn, and Shostakovich.
Amy Beatty has coached her students to be accepted to diverse dance programs, including the Nutmeg Conservatory, the Walnut Hill School of the Arts, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theater, Joffrey New York, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Jacobs Pillow, the Royal Danish Ballet, the Alvin Ailey School of Dance, and the Houston Ballet.
Ms. Beatty has attended the Regional Dance Association Southwest Conference in 2002, 2004, and 2006. In 2006 she was proud to present the Interlochen Music Camp Scholarship to a local Houston dance student. Her most recent accomplishments include coaching a dancer at Youth America Grand Prix at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts, and at the national level, at the LaGuardia High School of Visual and Performing Arts in NYC. She was invited to, and attended, the Juilliard School of the Arts Summer Teacher Intensive for two consecutive years, 2005 and 2006, where she had the distinct privilege of working with Laurence Rhodes, Stephen Pier, and Miss Irene Dowd.
Ms. Amy Beatty is the proud parent of two sons, Evan and Alex.
